Welcome to PURITY PATIENT ADVOCATES! Why Are So Many People With Complex Medical Symptoms Ignored?

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

I founded Purity Patient Advocates LLC in 2021 after experiencing first hand, the fears and frustrations of having a complex, invisible, mystery illness. My expertise is helping clients find resolution who are suffering from chronic, complex, multi-symptom, and seemingly unsolvable medical conditions.

After spending several years running from doctor to doctor in Florida and Georgia with no concrete diagnosis, I found myself honing my investigative skills so I could solve my complex health puzzle.

As I was an extremely athletic and active person, I found my condition had severely impacted my quality of life, including my personal and professional relationships. I was suffering physically, emotionally and financially which magnified my stress levels. I would have given anything to have a knowledgeable private patient advocate help me solve my 10 year puzzle! I realized there was a huge unmet need for women who are frequently ignored by our healthcare system.

What emerged from my years of suffering is my passion and purpose: to assist my clients through utilizing a comprehensive assessment which may identify critical areas previously overlooked or not fully understood by their health care practitioners. It also includes incorporating a customized "Plan of Action" for my clients, which provides functional, integrative and/or conventional medicine healthcare navigation.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

By 2020, the US Department of Health and Human Services estimates that 157 million Americans will be afflicted with a chronic illness and the US Census Bureau estimates 96% of chronic illnesses are invisible.

Millions of these invisibly ill individuals are women who have a chronic, complex illness with no identified root cause.

Sadly, our current, conventional healthcare system is fragmented and not designed for a complex patient with unusual symptoms to obtain a timely, correct diagnosis.

Women, in particular, are made to feel as though they have anxiety or it must be "All in Your Head."

The standard/conventional medicine model is based on addressing symptoms instead of identifying the root cause. This can present a serious problem for a complex case as they are shuffled among multiple physicians with no concrete diagnosis or a misdiagnosis. The bottom line: No one should have to suffer long term while trying to obtain a correct diagnosis and treatment plan.

Although I provide services to both men and women, my focus and expertise is on women. This is due to women being maternal, intuitive, and more inclined to be seeking answers.

My goal as a private patient advocate is to serve as a trusted advisor to my clients. I am transparent, ethical and will always have my client's best interests at heart.

What can you expect in my future posts?

I will strive to educate you on the value of retaining a knowledgeable, independent patient advocate when you have a complex health condition and/or unusual symptoms. I will also focus on the importance of seeking a second and/or third medical opinion.

Maybe you were diagnosed with an autoimmune disease such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Lupus, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis or a neurological condition like early stage Parkinson's Disease, Dementia or MS and are questioning it. You might even be experiencing sudden anxiety or panic attacks but afraid to tell anyone for fear of being ridiculed or accused of being a hypochondriac. Rest assured, I know your concerns are valid and not all in your head!

Tune in to my future posts where I will share more on independent patient advocacy including:

1. What is an independent or private patient advocate?

2. How can a private patient advocate play a critical role with obtaining quality care and regaining quality of life?

3. How do you choose the right private patient advocate?

Are you or a loved one:

- Suffering with complex symptoms, a chronic health condition and/or an invisible illness with no relief?

- Frustrated and exhausted from not being heard or taken seriously?

- Questioning your current medical diagnosis and/or seeking a second or third opinion?
